Is Leaky Gut Caused by Leaky Liver?
Bile flow clears infections from the gut.
Toxicity sets the stage for infection.
It’s the terrain, not the bug.
Dr. Chris Shade, expert in Mercury detoxification, explains that “leaky liver” is the reversal of normal bile flow out of the liver and into intestines: bile flow is blocked and backs-up into the blood to flow the opposite way with all its toxins going back into the body.
Normal bile flow into the intestines clears infections that may result in SIBO he mentioned, although we can assume it works for other infections or dybiosis imbalances like candida.
Why does bile not flow? The general cause it toxic load the liver’s inability to detoxify. The liver goes through 3 stages, with stage three being bile flow to excrete toxins prepared by stages 1 and 2. Stage 2 has three major processes involving the nutrient based processes of glutathione, glucuronidation, and sulfation.
This is another example of how the terrain of the body creates as weakness that allows infection or dysbiosis to flourish. The terrain is determined by toxicity relative to nutrition to detoxify, and stress relative to rest to allow detox to happen. Terrain theory is a holistic systems theory, in contrast to the medical paradigm with reductionism to one cause from outside body, something in nature, a germ, that should be killed with something toxic. You can’t just kill something that will return with conditions that breed it.
This is larger context of “leaky gut” that has numerous causes within this framework. Shade did not fully discuss leaky gut as that was not the topic but was using that contrast as a catchy way to make a point.
Dr Shade buried his points in a very long video for practitioners. Most people won’t watch the whole thing so you can look it up: PushCatch LiverDetox on You Tube. I’m not promoting his products.
One example of treatment is the coffee enema to stimulate bile flow. This can produce some bugs being seen in poop trophies. What may be underappreciated are the detoxification processes in phase 2 that lead to the release of bile and address the root cause of physical weakness that contributes to infection/ dysbiosis.
Coffee provide not just bile stimulants but antioxidant / free radical scavengers that that assist the glutathione process and polyphenol antioxidants. These effects are more powerful when delivered through coffee enemas that are absorbed through the colon into the portal vein and then directly to the liver. There will be some downstream enema flush effect, but the deeper flush is with multiple enemas that trigger the bile to flow and stimulate peristalsis from higher upstream—this feels super relaxing to me.
