Metals Detoxification in

3 Stages: A New Approach
​

Heavy metals are often the largest root cause of chronic fatigue and many other chronic health symptoms, whether they are diagnosed as having lyme infection, or something else.
 
Mercury, lead, aluminum, arsenic, cadmium, etc. are common metals. 
 
Detoxification takes a long time and can be difficult as individual often crash in their energy and symptoms as things get worse when not done just right.
 
There are 3 stages in order of importance for successful detoxification.  
 
FIRST STAGE:   BASIC NUTRITION must be CUSTOMIZED
 
The most important foundation for detox is to begin to restore healthy cellular functioning to begin detox and withstand more aggressive detox.
 
The field of health is severely lacking in ability to customize nutrition for individuals in a complete way, to address all the weak links that hold back natural detoxification and enable one to tolerate specific methods of detoxification.  
 
The first question is, What diet should you be on? Many people assume there is one optimal diet for everyone.
 
Right Diet can be defined by a few general parameters:
  1. Calories; currently excessive, deficient, or neutral?
  2. Macro nutrient ratios: protein, fat, carbs? What are ideal ratios?
  3. Food groups: what food groups to emphasize or eliminate n the diet?  Starches, meat, dairy, fruit, vegetables and how prepare

Major Weak Links

1. Deficiencies are often the crucial weak links: minerals, vitamins, macro nutrients, probiotics, sunlight If you don’t start with sodium, potassium, and magnesium, you will not get anywhere since these are the foundational cofactors for utilizing all other nutrients.
It is also important to increase natural detox capabilities with C, E, glutathione, melatonin, and other nutirents but not necessarily with supplements.


2. Excesses: you can have excessive accumulation of unutilized minerals like iron and calcium that may need to chelated out, or at least avoid additional supplementation.

3. Allergies: eliminate foods that you can never use, versus eliminate the allergy to health foods like RAW dairy by addressing the deficiencies of nutrients needed to assimilate it. Eliminating allergies you can feel better immediately. This is also a test for whether you have addressed deficiencies.

Upgrades
  1. Foods: upgrade to the very best foods for you within each group: better fruit, meats, vegetable preparations, etc
  2. Supplements: replace most supplements with foods and find better supplements that  you can feel working.
  3. Test energetically every food and supplement what weakens or strengthens you, relative to other options, too. I am not going to explain what energetic testing is for the 100th time as a long tangent as you can look-it-up. Only energetic testing can prescribe directly and in detail for a customized solutions, lab tests cannot.

Digestion 
Supplements to help digestion are an option.
Address other possible root causes of health that also weaken digestion like gut infection.

This is what a complete solution to nutrition looks like to energize every cell in your body and all functions like detoxification and immunity.  Doing this right can automatically start detoxifying you as much or more than you can handle, depending on recipes. This may be all you need without the other stages and this one can gradualy increase into the 3rd stage skipping the 2nd. Few people have done nutrition well even thought they think they have because they don't know what they are missing.

Much of the failure to tolerate detoxification supplements is from not having this foundation. When something fails and they don’t know why people start using phrases like “open the pathways” and “the need for binders” when they cannot formulate the problem any other way.  More on that below.

SECOND STAGE
 
This where most metal detox gurus actually begin, Andrew Cutler, Quicksliver Scientific, or Kinghardt. Their supplements for nutrition are not complete nutrition.
 
Cutler’s protocol is a good place to start to understand this phase.
This stage focuses on capturing the metals floating round outside the cells in the body, but not the brain.
Next stage goes to the brain and inside the cells, but not now because pulling those out would lead to overload between the cells in the lymph and blood, for example.
This uses chelating agents like DMSA and DMPS.
Other things  that could be used are things like TRS, zeolites. I'm not saying they are only extra-cellular and don't go into the brain, I am calibrating by tolerability level.
I think it wise to consider many options and test energetically which ones are best at any given time. 
 
THIRD STAGE
 
Third stage is more aggressive and goes into the cells and into the brain,
Going to the brain is better when you are stronger and able to excrete faster because some amount of redistribution occurs as metals are not bound perfectly for removal.  
 
Possibly the most aggressive detox agent is Alpha Lipoic Acid that goes into cells, across the blood brain barrier and is fat and water soluble. Although it is in some ways the holy grail of detox, it is also a bull in a China shop because many things have to be done to support it and people can have terrible redistribution of metals to more vulnerable areas leaving people much worse if they do it too soon. 
 
Alpha Lipoic Acid has been used in medicine for the fastest way to regenerate the liver with many liver diseases, toxic conditions, diabetes, heart disease, and cancer, explains Dr Burt Berkson, Nevertheless, for metals detox it is tricky and requires extreme care and methodology.
 
Dr. Chris Shade from Quicksilver Scientific sees alpha lipoic acid as part of the antioxidant system as a whole and its major role is to recycle glutathione. This means that glutathione forming inputs can be helpful in balance, and there are many sources of forming glutathione, not just a direct supplement. This contrasts with Cutler who still discusses it mainly as a chelating agent that works to grab metals on its own.
 
This is an important distinction to note, as Cutler’s approach is more in the medical paradigm versus the holistic paradigm suggested by Shade, who i am not totally endorsing, just making one point:
 
The Medical Paradigm is intervening from the outside: dmps, dmsa, trs zeolite, and ALA conceived of this way are seen as agents to remove metals as a single operation, more or less. There is nothing wrong with that, it just needs to be used at the right time and know its limitation.
 
The Holistic Paradigm is getting the body to heal itself. This would be energizing the anti oxidant system, as part of the fundamental redox processes, that is, basic energy production in the exchange of electrons, both the antioxidant side and oxidizing side that are both necessary.
 
The antioxidant and redox system includes C/ascorbates, vitamin E, glutathione, and alpha lipoic acid that is involved in recycling the other antioxidants. Together there provide a wider range of functions, including producing the byproduct of oxidizers that kill infections and break-up chemical toxins, along with many routine chemical reactions to produce energy.  Redox, short for reduction (antioxidants) and oxidation, involves much more, including sunlight, our most important nutrient.
 
I’ve gone through detox enough years and know how to work with these nutrients together so that I feel good on very high doses of ALA, like 200 mg an hour during the day, which, if you are familiar with the Cutler protocol, you know would destroy a beginner and is above the maximum recommended. This  signifies that my body burden of mercury is now very low or gone. I am probably  working on other toxins like recent chemical exposures in air pollution and doing general anti aging rejuvenation by increasing electron levels, etc. My decisions are based on questions answered through energetic testing to determe what my body needs, even if I don't know all the reasons why or what it is detoxifying, which could be liternally 1000 kinds of chemials that no lab test is designed to identify.
 
This broader understanding of how nutrients either from foods or supplements work together to energize the body to heal itself is what produces the deeper result,
 
I believe problems are most caused by I believe this is mainly caused by skipping stage one and not conceptualizing stage 3 in terms of the whole redox process of using ala, c, e, and glutathione together. I think optimizing these nutrients as whole reduces detox symptoms.
 
For example, when people feel detox going too fast and they get comfortable, they resort to binders that that are more passive and do not stir up or mobilize more toxins, like clay and charcoal. That is fine but another way to think of it is as electron / antioxidant/ free radical scavenger deficiency to neutralize the offending free radical toxins/metals. So let’s go back to the basic process of strengthening the body’s redox antioxidant system as much as we can so we need less of an outside solution, although there is nothing wrong with that and it should be used when necessary.  
 
There is science how these antioxidants work together, although it may not be focused fully on our particular questions of clinical practice. At best. scientific studies are of general trends and you cannot derive individual prescriptions in quantitative detail. Lab tests cannot prescribe. You need to know what diet, nutrients, detox agents you need, at what stage, in what combinations, how much and in what cycle times. 
 
The only way to get this fine- tuned is through energetic testing. I use a pendulum that works long distance, for example, to answer any yes or no question about the problem or solution. Questions depend on the scientific framework being used,
 
One more note: When choosing supplements, I think it is often best to test each ingredient separately rather than buy complex formulas that may have one thing you don’t tolerate and then you don’t tolerate the whole formula. Or maybe you only need half of what’s in it or different amounts of ingredients.
