Many people are trying to lose weight but not succeeding because the advice is incomplete.
They are not aware of all the variables.
Fix Nutritional Deficiencies
Weight loss it not simply an excess but a lack of nutrients for burning carbs and fat for energy: nutritional deficiencies of minerals and vitamins to burn fat and carbs can cause weight gain.

This matters but if you go too far a starvation response can restrict energy production and put on fat to buffer against starvation as soon as you increase calories.
The key is correcting nutrient deficiencies to utilize the calories you consume and reduce cravings that lead to eating what you don’t need.
Exercise
Diet matters more than exercise.
It’s hard to burn a lot of calories unless you are working out at very high levels.
You can actually gain weight by overtraining beyond your level of fitness. Then you produce stress hormones like cortisol that lead to weight gain instead of testosterone for growth in men and women.
Stress Reduction
The greater value of exercise may be for stress management if you don’t over-train.
Exercise becomes addiction when you go for the immediate high to your overall detriment.
If working out every day must be for most people quite light.
Harder workouts require 1 to 5 days rest.
Rest days can be walking.
Rest days are not slow long runs “just to get in some miles.”
Training for recovery plus growth depends on proper calculation of frequency, volume and intensity. Weight versus slow running are totally different forms of adaptation with different ratios of the above so cross training is confused. Anyway, this is a tangent, I will say no more.
