SEAFOOD
Seafood has more minerals than other meats and more nutrients in general than most foods.
Most importantly, potassium and magnesium with at least a little sodium, without which you are screwed. The deepest fatigue and most chaotic chronic condition involve lack of these electrolytes, I have observed. I have also experienced replacing mag and pot supplements with fish twice a day.
Fish is overall alkaline with these minerals and is important for dietary balance especially if you can't eat fruit or vegetables.
Selenium is a key mineral for detoxification of metals found most abundantly in seafood.
Due to metals exposures people get depleted of selenium detoxing it.
B vitamins are also abundant in seafood, especially B12.
Fish is also the best food source of vitamin D that is far superior to D supplements that often make people sick even though they don't know it. There are entire discussion forums on D explaining this and the flaws of lab tests.
Food sources can be your best bet in winter.
Pink-orange salmon has the super antioxidant astaxanthin. This is considered the strongest of antioxidants partly also because of its versatility and mobility to go anywhere including inside cells.
Wild salmon have astax naturally from eating shrimp who gather it through eating red algae.
Farmed salmon may have color added through a synthetic astax supplement, but synthetic vitamins are not the same as natural.
Astax supplements are generally extracted from a species of red algae and can work but it's not clear how much denaturation occurs in the extraction as well as loss of cofactor nutrients for absorption.
Seafood does not suffer from a lack of minerals due to depleted soil.
The next objection is that all the oceans are full of radiation and microplastics. No, not all.
Parts of the ocean are purer from being river fed. Sockeye salmon spend two years in rivers.
North Atlantic fish like mackerel and sardines are not near Japanese radiation and also the other two fish highest in DHA and EPA. These fats are well studied for brain health and controlling inflammation. Fish oil supplements are of lower quality and often rancid; they are an extra unnecessary expense if you can eat fish instead.
Shellfish have much higher concentrations of minerals and can be powerful detoxifiers--possibly too much for beginners but they don't have much protein.
