Immunity with Enzymes
Enzymes can:
- Kill infections directly
- Improve circulation to deliver more immune factors like white blood cells and NK killer cells
- Digest metabolic waste that infections may feed on or use as bioshields
- Digest food better for more energy to boost immunity
Enzymes that digest protein are one of the few things that can kill viruses by dissolving their protein coating, some claim. While I could not find a lot of studies of that--although there are a few--I want to share how enzymes are used for other kinds of infections, immunity, and general health.
Enzymes from the pancreas work with the immune system and spleen more closely than is often understood. These include enzymes to digest protein, sugars and fats: proteases, lipase, and amylase, respectively, which can work on more than just food: they circulate in the blood and lymph to work in other ways. This distinction is known as digestive versus systemic enzymes, which could be the very same enzymes but distinguished by whether they are working on food or the other parts of the body.
Enzymes are produced by the pancreas for digestion and cleaning metabolic and other waste. For example, fibrin is a quick short term solution to tissue damage but need to be broken again to maintain healthy circulation that does not lead to high blood pressure and arteriole scoliosis. As people get exhausted the may not get to step two. It’s a bit like always being stressed with no time to rest and rejuvenate.
Pancreatic enzymes maintain circulation of both the blood and lymph systems to improve the reach of the immune system: white blood cells and killer cells can reach further.
Enzymes have been used to clear lymph edema as the clogging and swelling of the lymph system.
It is well known by doctors that certain enzymes like nattokinase can lower blood pressure by digesting fibrin and thus cannot be taken at the same time as medical blood thinners.
Infections may also feed on or hide within dead tissues or metabolic waste. Scar tissue may form as a result of toxic damage as well as injuries and surgeries.
Infections are known to use or form the sugar polysaccharides to construct biofilm shields against the immune system. These sugars may be more available because they were undigested from a weakness in pancreatic enzyme input and carbohydrate excess in the diet. There are also excesses of utilizable minerals in the diet like iron and calcium, which is extremely common, because we lack cofactors like magnesium and vitamin A to utilize a whole complex of minerals that include calcium and iron. Biofilm shields can also contain highly toxic metals like mercury, so killing infection often leads to feeling sick requires a full detoxification strategy.
Systemic enzymes have the advantage of being able to break down the bioshields and attack pathogens directly. Incredibly, enzymes only seem to kill pathogens, as some successful formulas include enzymes and probiotics in the same capsule..
Enzymes are popular in a variety of candida products. I mention a few here so you can read labels for my details on what enzymes are used. They go beyond what the pancreas makes to derive some from foods and fermented cultures. These products are systemic enzymes taken on an empty stomach so they don't work on the food.
However, taking supplements “for” infection is not a complete solution. The word “for” is often part of a linear reductionist relationship of “take this for that,” A to B, that does not capture the crazy complexity of a reality in a chart with all the letters and arrows going every which way. This is reality even though some people demand simpler articles. This is why people don’t get better, too distracted scrolling rather than taking the time to read a few good longer articles that have solutions to boost their brain power and clear brain fog.
You have to ask Why? there are not enough enzymes. What is weakening the pancreas or creating a higher load of task than it can handle? This is a systemic approach, and I will look only at the pancreas for a moment.
The more well-known pancreatic insufficiency disease is diabetes. You take insulin “for” diabetes but that does not fully solve the problem: the things that made the pancreas weak are still affecting the body, so you may lose circulation to the point of needing amputation of the legs. A root cause solution is to address all the parts of a system: rebuild the pancreas by addressing the lacking nutrients, toxins, and other stressors that weaken it.
You can increase your total enzymes by eating more raw food since even low heat destroys all enzymes. Raw food has enzymes that help digest the food, thus sparing your pancreas of having to make some enzymes for digestion. This is especially crucial for foods like dairy which are much more allergenic when heated or pasteurized. Both proteins and lactose become allergen without enzymes like lactase to help digest it.
Construct a diet just right for you: make your digestive enzymes count in a return on investment in digesting food you need the most to derive the most energy for every cell in your body, including the immune system. Rather than shop for a ready made diet I prefer to energetically test each food to know exactly what is needed--I use a pendulum.
Customized nutrition is necessary for a complete solution that addresses all weak links like nutritional deficiencies, excesses and allergies/intolerances. If you don’t address deficiencies of magnesium, potassium or sodium first, then you will not get very far.
Weak links also include low quality foods and supplements relative to the superstars that are available. Not enough time in the sun and nature is a huge problem. The sun produces electrons for energy and circulation, is the best source of vitamin D for immunity, and creates UV that also destroys pathogens and mold.
Digestion can also be weakened by toxins, infections, deep stress and even misalignment of the physical structure and movement.
