How People Get Mislead by “Science”
​


​Many people working on health rely on lab tests that are too narrowly focused to be useful and are mistaken to be an authoritative explanation of problems.

A misinformed and pretentious use of science is masquerading as medical authority.
​
Consumers are buying it because they do not have a sufficient understanding of science or causal logic
.

I have a Ph.D. in sociology studying the application of scientific methods to practical problems in ways that take the scientific revolution to another level. This includes what engineers are more familiar with: six sigma or total quality. In addition, some ideas from agriculture  are more advanced than those of medicine,  ideas way beyond the institutionalized mediocrity of much academic thinking, as well, like the 200 year old "law of the minimum" that explains how nutritional deficiencies are weak links of a system.  Pub Med is full of “scientific” studies with no coherent causal logic (not all, of course).

Some people treat science as religion and can’t think for themselves.

A good example is the fascination with genetic mutations of methylation, etc. These are just symptoms and the treatment with supplements has a high failure rate that has made many people worse. People are getting a fatalistic view of themselves by thinking their problems are genetic, when genes are epi-genetically shaped by environmental toxicity and nutrition.

Studies actually create diseases as Dr. Klinghardt has explained in the case of SIBO—small intestine bowel overgrowth. A testing technique creates knowledge of an aspect of the problem and then people think “This is why I am sick.” People are desperate to grab onto something, which is often oversimplified and failing resulting in a return to shopping for the next miracle. These fads are without a framework to integrate each thing into it's proper place. So down the rabbit hole you go.

Science is more than a method to empirically measure results and causal variables. The most important issue is what questions you ask and what assumptions you go in with that can limit what answers you are able to see. All thinking is based on theories, even if implicit or unconscious.

The most important theory to have is a concept of a system: how all the parts of your body fit together. This introduces an inevitable tension between focus for more depth of detail versus the overview of a system to connect the dots. The dominant model of science errs on the side of narrow focus to create fragmented science, which is reflected in overly specialized medicine.

The first way to manage the tension between focus and systems is to identify the relatively few root causes that create the many symptoms. This is one way to interpret the Pareto principle: the 20 percent that has is responsible for the most results in the 80%. Without a theory of root causes I have seen this principle used to justify partial implementation of a protocol, assuming the protocol was not already focused intelligently on the 20% root causes. This is an example of how ignorance, laziness and the ego work together in the client to sabotage implementation and health. I observe that people constantly think they know and know better before they understand anything. Like scanning this article quickly for “relevance,” which usually means reinforcing your existing beliefs because learning new things requires more of a double take.

Systems thinking requires managing complexity with the right kind of simplicity to tame the whole mess, not reductionism.
Nowhere have I found a definition of the criteria for a root cause. This is fathomlessly sloppy thinking and a collective failure.
I have defined the criteria for what makes something a root cause to identify 6 types of root causes. One method I use is the “5 Whys” to go from symptoms to root causes. The 5 Whys is one of the basic tools of applied scientific method standardized in six sigma or total quality using manufacturing and all kinds of organizations. The 5 is actually random and is used as a minimum until the cause is found that makes sense. What makes sense is when the Whys? take you outside the body..'

The 3 Criteria of a Root Cause are: 


1. Something Invading from the outside: 
Toxicity, infection, emotional trauma, structural injury,


2. Something Missing: nutrients, developmental processes emotionally or physically like breast feeding that shapes the teeth, cranium, spine and all of health.

3. The Mind and Brain's Responses to Stress
This is the one exception to the principles that causes originate from outside the body. This is why we have will and choice. 
The brain refers to the well known autonomic nervous system, ANS, dysregulation that makes people stressed rather than rest well to heal. 
As for mind, we make choices about health, which is what this article is all about: shifting from the medical model based on fragmented science, to practical science through systems thinking to understand health as a holistic lifestyle and environment model. 


6 Root Causes

Nutrition (chemistry and physics of sunlight, etc.)
Toxicity
Infection
Emotions
Physical misalignment of teeth, bones, muscle
Stress Responses: brain and mind.


NOT Root Causes:

Body Parts
like “adrenal fatigue,” thyroid and other hormones. This is where symptoms show up. Organs do not cause their own problems.


Symptom Patterns: 
Inflammation: this is an outcome to measure progress not a root cause. Inflammation causes pain, but what causes inflammation is the question. A symptoms focus leads to matching supplements with symptoms "Take this for that." Matching is often based on the idea that the cause and treatment are the same for everyone and each symptom


Genetics: 
Usually genetics is the explanation given when causes are not understood. Inherited diseases can be considered as a cause, but these can still be treated or managed more that the fatalistic understanding of genetics would suggest. Epigenetics means genetics is shaped by environment and behavior.


LAB TESTS

Knowing these questions to ask you can know what labs tests are more useful and more critically evaluate studies. You can more critically evaluate what experts are saying. You don’t have to follow or worship the authority of doctors or all versions of science.
When I was trying to figure out why I had chronic fatigue a hair sample detected super high levels of mercury. Then I got the entire concept of toxicity and understood there were many more toxic exposures and problems—it’s a systemic problem

Infectious disease tests reveal only some pathogen species but not amounts of pathogens. Most practitioners don’t understand that most larger parasites dissolve themselves with enzymes after the sample is taken to yield false negative, according to Dr. Klinghardt. The doctor I was working with was an experienced specialist in this and knew that lab tests don’t reveal everything. Based on symptoms he prescribed the antibiotic tinnidizole after herbs failed. I got great results for a month but then relapsed. We did not know then in 1997 that bugs develop immunity to antibiotics quickly. I also had not identified mercury poisoning to remove that to strengthen my body and immune system to take over and do the work that cannot be done fully with antibiotics and other kill shorts.

So labs are useful for some things and not others. You don’t have to let incomplete labs dictate the limitations for what you do. The other options are to guess, experiment and energetic testing.

PERSONAL EXPERIMENTATION

Experimentation follows scientific logic even if measurement is subjective in how healthy you feel.
Efforts are best focused on root causes that are likely to get results, usually starting with basic nutrients that have the broadest range of benefits given their many functions: minerals, vitamins, proteins, fats, sunlight, probiotics, etc.

You should be able to feel things working as soon as you eat or take them with cumulative progress over time. With immediate feedback you can implement numerous new things within a day and still get clear feedback on each thing. Otherwise you might have to think you need a wait a few weeks to see if something is working, but by then many other variables can occur.
The more sensitive you are and often the worse off you are the more you should feel if something increases or decreases your energy, or some other indicator, like better mood, sleep, pain, digestion, etc. I was so bad off and sensitive that I could not miss it. If I did not do exactly the right think, then I crashed.

I am so sensitive that I can hold a food or supplement in my hand and feel subtly whether it was positive or negative for me. This way I could shop accurately and know when to take things, too. I could also hold the number of capsules or size of the spoon for a liquid to get the amount. This is how I was able to find the highest quality supplements and foods. Now I can feel energy in a picture online, even for what it will do for other people. 

For people who don’t feel anything right now you can learn. If you are not doing anything that is good enough to feel right away, then you need new suggestions. As you experience the results of higher quality foods and supplements you know what it feels like and the negative things show up by way of contrast.

You also have to get rid of the food allergies and intolerances that shut your system down so much there is no up experience. This is through eliminating foods and also providing cofactors to assimilate healthy foods rather experiencing them as an irritation when they cannot be digested and assimilated into cells.

As your body clears of food waste and deeper toxicities and infections your nervous system becomes more accurate to identify what is good for you. In the beginning there can be too much noise in the system to hear the signals. Parasites can manipulate brain reactions to reward you for what is good for them like sugar.

You might not be able to do this on your own.

On the other hand, it might be better than spending $2000 on lab tests from alternative doctors only to be given a program of ineffective supplements and generic diet lacking in significant customization and little implementation support.

ENERGETIC TESTING

Energetic Testing with muscles, pendulum or electronic scanners is an option. It works through a resonance of frequencies in a quantum field across space and even time.. Many people are not open to it and I will not try to convince you otherwise because plenty of people are.. A lot can go wrong and often does as many people have negative experience with this. But there are ways to reduce errors that make it much better than guessing.

With energetic testing one can ask any question to get a yes or no answer. It is NOT psychic channeling that gives you answers you never thought of. You must use your theory of a system and all its details to get answers. Scientific thinking is necessary.
The most limiting factor is the questions asked or input into testing variables. This is the same problem with scientific tests, the map of the system it is testing. This does not mean science does not work any more than energetic testing does not work.

The advantage of energetic testing are:

1. Ask any question not limited to measurement technology
2. Don’t have to wait for answer
3. Can test solutions for the individual, which very few lab tests can do. 
4. You can test solutions without a full diagnosis: what nutrients you need as root causes to address the many symptoms. This works under the idea that the body begins to heal itself when it gets all the nutrients in needs, without knowing all the reasons why, which lab tests can’t fully determine anyway.
5. Energetic testing is the only way to fulfill engineering requirements of designing complete solutions that are customized and quantified. Energetic testing is also helpful in operational monitoring of implementation for quality assurance: catching non compliance to protocols. 


When you expand your conception of science to a systems level to design more detailed protocols you realize you need better tools to do so. Energetic testing may not be fully understood scientifically, at least what we think of as science, but it is the broadest tool available Lab tests are limited in both scope and accuracy, too.

RANGE OF SOLUTIONS

Regardless of method you use, most people are not aware of many of the good solutions. There are many things I use that no one ever talks about.

Many people know about RAW dairy as one of best healers, but many people do not. As soon as I say that many people shout, NO! I am allergic to dairy. That’s why I have to say: FIX YOUR DAIRY ALLERGY to use raw dairy as super healer. Fixing your dairy allergy is a systemic issue that will improve everything beyond dairy. It’s not take this for that.

One of the most effective general approaches is Morely Robbins’s Root Cause Protocol, RCP, because he realizes nutrients are a key root cause to start with. This builds around the interdependent systemic relationships between sodium, potassium, magnesium, vitamin A, copper and iron. They assess clients based on blood and hair tests.

One limitation of the PRCP method is that they do not energetically test to specify individual solutions. I have seen people improve to a point with the RCP but got further later by customizing solutions within the RCP while adding additional things.

IMPLEMENTATION IS A  PROCESS OF SCIENTIFIC EXPERIMENTATION

Implementation is a science when action is seen as an experiment with results measured constantly and adjustments made. Implementation science has been fully developed through six sigma /total quality methods, which are more than just implementation. 


Implement with discipline and sensitivity to feedback to make adjustments when you run into trouble so you don’t quit entirely and return to a paralyzing fear of upsetting your delicate equilibrium or an addiction to shopping for some new miracle that does not require as much personal responsibility.

Implementation is where your understanding of theory is really tested:

1. Stay focused on root causes rather than worrying about every symptom and returning to the scattered search for miracles, fads and the practitioner merry-go-round.

2. Understand the difference between failure of the program versus failure to implement.

3. Ascertain the difference between detox or die-off versus some kind of failure of implementation or design of the program that needs to be adjusted, which is inevitable over time as all the factors change as the result of your success.

4. Honesty and integrity: not telling yourself  that you understand when you don’t. Or worse, that you disagree immediately before you understand, being stubborn and hyper mistrustful.

SUMMARY

​Our often unconscious paradigms in our minds shape decisions made about health:
assumptions about what a solution looks like and the questions asked in your search.
Beliefs shape how you use whatever method: 

1. Science
2. Energetic Testing of individual causes and solutions 
3. Personal experimentation

Beliefs are in two major patterns: the medical model versus holistic model of health.
The first key issue is to think holistically in terms of as system: how all the part fit together, rather than a fragmented use of science in the medical model focused on symptoms.

Systems Theory
The most fundamental cause of lack of progress is missing pieces, not seeing a big enough picture. This requires habits of thinking of asking why more deeply and how things connect.
The biggest challenge of systems theory is how to balance breadth with focus once you grasp the hopeless generalization that “everything is related to everything else” as a system. We still need some kind of useful map of the terrain.

Focus on 6 Root Causes
A useful map focuses on the 6 root causes, defined with precise criteria previously: nutrition, toxicity, infection, emotions, physical misalignment and the brain and mind’s responses to stress.
Even guessing through trial and error personal experimentation focused on the right things works better than the most sophisticated scientific methods focused on the wrong things, leading you down rabbit holes of technical obfuscation to justify false authority. Root cause focus simplifies and gives leverage over the whole system and your own destiny.

Priority: Order of Implementation
Priority is about which root cause to address and with what specific step.
There is a balance between doing enough things at the same time and focus such that some things should be done later after the body is stronger.

Open to more Options
Don’t think you know what all your solutions look like when you are not yet healed or optimized, which suggests you have not made all the right choices.
You need enough solutions from which to choose and preferably test: foods, recipes, highest quality supplements, technologies and methods. People don’t know what they are missing and don’t know where to look. It takes years of random searching and opening-up to things you may falsely reject because we are all at times too biased, negative or lazy.
