Hips
The fastest way to relax and begin to realign the spine is by releasing muscle tension in the hips through the psoas muscle that attaches from the lower back to thigh bone. The psoas is the core of the core and perhaps affects more muscles than any other muscle. It can relax all the way through the chest and neck to the base of the cranium. It can be very strong and feel like drugs. It can put you to sleep. You will walk differently as your hips realign. This is the first move of the Aline Spine & Mind method.
Primal Movements
Tongue posture, sucking and swallowing.
See page Orthodontics. Breath helps relaxation for alignment, just as alignment is necessary to open the breath. Walking and standing properly are as important as any therapy or yoga that is then undone by going back to destructive moment. You will feel lighter, stronger, reduce pain, and may even feel energy moving up your spine. Bending: learn to hinge at the hips. Primal Squat is an advanced move for modern people. Yoga and chi gong can help tremendously when it matches the person's abilities. Therapeutic yoga that does not require flexibility, if that is a problem. |
Face
The single most important determinant of posture is probably the width of the upper dental palate because it affects the size of the airway. A narrow airway requires a forward head position to breathe, which then forces unhealthy curves down the spine to a sunken chest and forward hips.
An underdeveloped palate can cause sleep apnea and stress the nervous system to contribute to any health problem by inhibiting rest, digestion, immunity, etc. Expanding the palate orthodontically may be needed. You can expand the cranium temporarily to open the breath and balance the nervous system. This is included in the Aline Spine & Mind method. Supports
