Collagen Damaging and Collagen Building
Simply taking collagen powders for collagen is not always enough when toxins damaging collagen in the body are not detoxified.
Taking collagen may not be used as collagen but broken down for other purposes.
The component nutrients of collagen may be needed elsewhere first, and in greater amounts than just found in collagen, to detoxify to protect the whole body and more crucial functions
In fact, large collagen proteins need to be digested and reassembled anyway, and the assembly process and structures that hold collage requires additional nutrients that don’t show up in the collagen.
It’s like furniture that is too big to fit in the front door: it is delivered assembled and then has to be disassembled to get in the front door and then reassembled
Or, have it can be delivered in parts that can fit in the door right away.
Then you might need additional components of collagen to fix the leaky root first so it does not damage your new furniture and everything else.
Here just five of the major collagen components and builders that are needed in greater amounts than just for collagen as they have many functions.
Perhaps the weakest link in collagen is copper in ratio with zinc.
Copper has many functions in the body especially detoxification as part of metallothioneins that include zinc and selenium to detoxify toxic metals.
Copper levels have been kept down by an unproven low RDA estimate of .9 mg. and fear that it accumulates toxically like iron above that.
Recently people have been making progress with taking much higher doses of copper therapeutically in closer to a 1:1 ration with zinc, not with the more than 10x the amount of zinc as was recommended.
More copper and zinc are needed in a more toxic environment that damages collagen and everything else.
Vitamin C is well known as a component of collagen that is multipurpose detoxifier and infection fighter, so requires for C in a toxic world have gone up.
Antioxidants of all kinds are known to protect and preserve skin and all tissues.
Glycine is one of the three amino acids that make up the bulk of collagen as a protein.
Glycine is destroyed by the toxic weed killer Round Up with glyphosates that replace it in the body to damage collagen in the gut, skin, joints and other connective tissues.
Round Up is not just in food but air born from lawns, school yards, etc.
These are reasons to take extra glycine separately than just from what is in food protein sources.
Silica is a mineral that forms a matrix to hold collagen.
Silica is needed for many things, like detoxifying aluminum which is in air pollutions and even in underarm deodorant.
Silica is known to help skin and joint pain.
Sulfur is also part of the process of collagen production and known to be good for skin and joints.
Sulfur is part of detox and metabolic processes, for example:
“Sulfation is an important pathway of metabolism for a range of endogenous compounds including steroid hormones, bile acids, neurotransmitters, and small peptides.”
7.03.4.3 Sulfotransferases, E.A. Lock, in Comprehensive Toxicology, 2010.
I noticed that I do not sunburn when I have plenty of sulfur.
Sulfur works with cholesterol to produce vitamin D sulfate, the water soluble form.
Sun actually electrically charges the water of the body as part of our energy metabolism, as explained under the theory of EZ water, or the fourth phase of water.
Collagen is a structure that holds water and is discussed as hydration that makes skin look good.
Hydration is not just mixing electrolyte minerals in any water, but has to do also with the structuring of water.
Collagen should not be thought of as just a medical treatment “for” skin and joints.
Those are symptoms that are good to track progress because you can see and feel them.
But the larger question is how the system works to produce energy for everything.
