Stress Response Find
(versus fight, flight or freeze)
Stress Hormones to Run Toward Something
The stress response is often called fight or flight: to run away from something or fight it.
It is about a concrete threat.
But there is also stress from a lack of health solutions that creates an impulse to “get up and do something about it” or find the solution. This can be restless searching.
I think of cortisol and other adrenal hormones as doing this as even just getting up to walk is technically a stress requires these hormones to do something.
This is not trivial because it leads to an opposite interpretation of things like insomnia and nervous system dysregulation.
With insomnia, the functions of sleep may not be able to be performed without nutrients.
The functions of sleep cannot be done, so this is functional insomnia.
This contrasts with sleep mechanism insomnia that can be from deficiencies of melatonin, GABA, etc.
Similarly, one way to look at low immunity is that nervous system dysregulation prevents immunity from being fully active since immunity is supported by parasympathetic activity, whereas the stress related sympathetic dominance shuts down immunity.
The other way to look at it is that low immunity causes the stressful seeking response of sympathetic overdrive.
I have boosted immunity and gone into parasympathetic dominance: slow and tired feeling at first but actually stronger with symptoms resolving. (Don’t ask how, this not about details that are too complicated and not repeatable with different individuals).
What’s missing are nutrients and sometimes a little movement to help circulation of the lymph, cerebrospinal fluid and venous blood systems. These are body functions.
So one can wake and need to move or eat to get back to sleep.
This is a different approach than “taking this for that,” which focuses on a mechanism directly.
Like tickling the vegas nerve to balance the nervous system. The can help but it’s often not enough.
So now we have fight, flight, freeze and find as stress responses.

Eat to energize, detoxify & immunize.
Move to circulate, align, & relax.
