Leaky Gut & Leaky Liver:
Infection, Toxicity and Nutrition
Leaky gut means there are holes in the intestine that allow undigested food and toxins to pass through into the blood producing a range of symptoms like brain fog, fatigue, inflammation, skin outbreaks, etc.
Leaky liver is when toxins in the liver flow back up into the blood with the same effects. I call this reverse toxin flow, back into the blood rather than out the liver through the bile and into the toilet. The idea of leaky liver is from Dr Christopher Shade, a mercury detox specialist.
Constipation makes both worse: the junk that remains in the intestines leaks through the intestines into the blood and back to the liver
So the undigested food or toxins from the intestines can circulate through the blood into the liver to increase its load contributing to overwhelm of the liver, stagnation of bile flow, and shut-down of bowel movements. Everyone knows how constipation feels.
This is what I call a complex systems problem: multiple organ problems interacting in a vicious circle.
In addition, the back-up detox pathways are more utilized and can become strained: the lymph pushing through the skin, lungs and throat, or the kidneys pushing out through the urine.
While liver health is often associated with toxicity, and intestines with infection, it is all related. Infections produce toxicity. Toxicity weakens immune system organs. Everyone in modern life has a toxic load and that is the underestimated part as the medical paradigm blames nature, while denying its own toxic medicines, and therefore overemphasizes infection even if they deny many chronic infections.
Leaky gut holes in the gut or permeability can be caused by pathogens chewing holes and weakness from toxins. I’ve had both with mercury and the medical procedure of radioactive barium enemas drinks to help Xray imaging to check for a bowel obstruction because they have no clue the problem is subtler and microscopic.
A tetracycline overdose damaged my liver and gut flora probiotics at the same time making way for pathogens and gut swelling even at a young age leading to chronic fatigue that progressed over time.
Antibiotics kill bacteria good bacteria and yeast known as probiotics that help digest for us, including fibers that cannot be digested. Without probiotics to digest fiber, fiber is more of an irritant that is constipating. Fiber is way overrated in general because of this. They assume that fiber serves mechanically to form a bowel or sweep the intestines like a broom. I have been on a raw milk diet and formed normal stools—bacteria and yeast do this.
Indigestible fibers digested by microorganisms create nutrients like butyrate, a short chain fatty acid that helps nourish the intestines so it won’t have holes. Butyrate are about half of what probiotics create according to some sources. Foods for probiotics are called prebiotics. Butyrate is also obtained directly from raw butter, which is a super food for healing on many levels when you can get healed enough to tolerate raw dairy.
Other nutrients produced by probiotics are B vitamins, vitamins K, beta carotene and retinol. Neurotransmitters like serotonin or GABA are also important for moods, brain and total regulation. So when you are constipated it’s not just leaky gut and liver, it also can represent lack of brain chemistry to think clearly and feel good.
Good bacteria can also help us detoxify by attaching to toxins.
Colds and fevers can be a detox and can be productive.

Bile flow not only moves toxins out of the liver but also helps control pathogens in the under intestine especially.
