Autonomic Nervous Systems dysregulation can be characterized in two different ways:
1. Highly sensitive with strong reactions to things and/or shutting down and crashing, or “freezing.”
That is both over and under-reacting, thus a dysregulated nervous system, rather than balanced responses to life.
Sensitivities can be to toxic chemicals, scents, electronic pollution, and conflict with people, taking things personally, overreacting or being insecure.
2. Constantly feeling stressed that shows up as insomnia, anxiety, tension and fatigue.
Stressors can be both physical and emotional, the same root causes of health problems in general: nutrition, toxicity, infection, misalignment, emotions and mind.
The overall feeling is being not safe, both consciously and especially unconsciously.
There is an inability to self-soothe and create a confident path of mastery: response ability.
Dysregulation refers to imbalance that can go to either extreme, often both at different times within both patterns described above:
1. Flight or fight response, high reaction and stress hormone levels turned on too often if not constantly.
2. Freeze and shut down, low reaction at the wrong time, not defending yourself when disrespected so that you stew in resentment making it an overreaction in the impact on your life, leading back to the flight and fight.
Some examples and effects of root causes:
ANS is not a root cause but a response pattern to stress. It can sometimes be treated like a root cause as it involves the mind that makes choices about how to address stress. People are not to blame just because there is mental component.

Some examples and effects of root causes:
- Early childhood emotionally insecure attachments, neglect, abuse.
- Physically too weak to respond as a result of any and all root causes.
- Nutritional deficiency and being too weak to respond confidently to life’s challenges.
- The brain and nervous systems damaged by toxicity.
- Excito-toxins like electronic pollution and light over-stimulate,
- Misalignment from teeth to hips and feet that stress the body from its own inefficiency and weakness, making muscles tense to compensate from misalignment of bones.
- The body not physically going through running away or fighting back, or having strength to believe it can: the importance of movement and exercise without over-training. This has not been explored much in terms of treatment, but it is recognized that we hold emotions in our muscles--especially the psoas.

How to Feel Safe in the World: The MInd's Responses to Stress
Feeling like you can master life and it's challenges will help you feel more secure in the world.
Number one is Clarity: understanding your root causes and have a rational plan of action that give you clarity to produce success one step at a time to become confident.
This is about how we make choices based on the paradigm of health we have.
There are 3 different strategic responses to deep stress ANS dysregulation based on paradigms:
The medical paradigm treatment is medications.
The medical paradigm distortion in peoples' minds is to treat ANS as a physical thing alone, not a mental state and choice. People then may see themselves as victims and then blame others for not accommodating them instead of taking responsibility for their reactions. Some are trying to manipulate as learned from abusive, narcissistic parents that made them sick.
An in between paradigm that has worked to cure chronic health problems involve brain retraining and balancing. There are many such programs. I consider such programs somewhat holistic,. These programs remove the immediate problem but don’t go to all the root causes that often have to be addressed, too.
The holistic paradigm been defined as incorporating body, mind and spirit, or, as I like to say chemistry, physics, structural alignment, emotions and spirituality. I also define it as; Holistic Environment And Lifestyle, HEAL.
This begins with a scientific understanding the brain and psychology: We all have a negativity bias in that top priority is our threat scan for survival. The fastest way to get a response from someone is to insult them. We have to learn to not respond to negativity, from within our own minds, to people and environmental sensitivities. We can learn to not overreact and to focus on more positive people and things to do.
Sometimes there is no complete material solution to material problems.
Victim Mentality vs. Response Ability
The reason you are not getting the result you want is the way you make decisions.
An important mind choice is to be a master of life, not a victim, that begins with taking responsibility.
People who do not understand ANS will sometimes understand their ANS as a static medical condition that make them a victim because they cannot frame what to do about it, without awareness of how the mind and brain work and use it to put responsibility on others for their reactions.
I have been blamed by people wielding their ANS as an excuse for not reading their minds and avoiding what triggers them, like asking them to take responsibility for telling me they cannot read after I have been asking them to read things to prepare for our meetings, which they showed up to not understanding and not communicating.
I have seen ANS being used as a source of victimhood as one more weapon in a narcissist's arsenal of always being right and taking no responsibility.
ANS dysregulation is losing the response ability of your body and mind.
If you have chronic health problems with ANS get a free root cause assessment.
It's' likely that you need customized nutrition, detoxifcation and a complete solution to emotions, too.
The Emotional Program works to bring peace to the nervous system for immediate relief of anxiety and long term transformation.
