The problem of workout addiction can be characterized as focusing on these positive results to the neglect of other benefits and overall benefits undermined by overtraining.. Like a temporary high.
Generally missing is knowledge of how to measure real progress: recovery plus growth to a new level, without injuries.
Before you run again you should feel like your legs have turned into wings and you are ready to fly.
Train like you’re “peaking.”
There is no such thing as “peaking:” All recovery and growth occurs after a workout and before the next substantial workout. Stress adaptation begins immediately until interrupted, not delayed and then continued.
You should feel super before lifting again.
Platitudes about listening to your body need to be lead to continuous improvement without injury.
Many people have these experiences a few times when they accidently got too busy and missed workouts or were sick.
But they still don’t learn the lesson and draw new conclusions.
They lack theory.
Experience alone teaches nothing.
They need a new paradigm—that’s the real brain problem.
Not enough people are shopping for a new paradigm.
They are shopping for a new supplement to “give them the edge” over the damage they do with over-training through destructive routines.
The Brain

Men can’t find masculinity just through muscles. I know some men who run or go to the gym too often and can’t handle their woman or figure out how to find a quality woman.
- Improved circulation through movement is relaxing to the brain. (but circulation can be achieved in deeper ways with less effort on rest days.)
- Pain killing feel-good endorphins that numb the pain signals to instead perform more fight or flight and conceal real stress levels that have costs. This is a systems problem of delayed feedback involving a short and long term results conflict.
- Not kept in check with precise ways to measure progress at right time intervals: every workout not, “hey last month….” Hardly anyone really understands science.
- Social needs at the gym
- Avoiding emotional introspection. Can’t distinguish emotional from physical needs to eat or workout, Nothing better to do, can’t meet the urges and needs another way.
