Night Urination
Frequently waking up at night to urinate needs to be understood in terms of the functions of urine: to excrete toxins and excess minerals, like salt.
Urine is produced as the kidneys filter the blood.
The kidneys have to work harder when the liver is not working optimally: most toxins should be filtered from the blood by the liver and then bile produced to move toxins out through the bowels.
The liver as the primary detox pathway is often overworked and toxins flow back into the blood, reverse toxin flow, and have to be excreted through other organs like the kidneys and urine, lymph and skin, and mucous from the lungs and throat.
Some use of the back-up systems is helpful, but constantly is a systemic imbalance that can be improved.
Also helpful is to bind toxins in the intestines so toxins don’t reabsorb and go through the liver again.
How the organs work together as a system has been explained by the mercury detox specialist, Dr. Christopher Shade of Quicksilver Scientific. His tri test measures mercury in the blood and urine: you want relatively more mercury in the urine than blood to show that kidneys are excreting mercury and that the liver is also lessening mercury in the blood.
This is a systems analysis that asks why something is happening first instead of just going to “How do I fix my X?” Like trying to manipulate the function by not drinking water at night, rather than supporting the body to do the functions of detox. This is the difference between the medical paradigm and being truly holistic and systemic. “Natural” is not the distinguishing factor.
Solutions are complex and individualized so “How?” cannot be answered in social media comments.
I have written many other posts and web pages on how these systems work together and some helpful nutrients in general
The liver deals with total body burden of toxins.
Current toxic exposures also weaken the liver to detoxify body burden, like from electronic pollution that steals electrons from every cell, and that also has a direct impact on sleep.
There are many related factors.
A complete solution includes avoiding toxicity and acquiring all the nutrients you need to detoxify.
Sometimes frequent urination at low volume seems to be that the nerves associated with the bladder are irritated due to misalignment of muscles creating chronic hip tension. I have written about misalignment extensively and designed my own do it yourself alignment system to correct root causes of movement and ergonomics in everyday life since massage, poking bones and most physical therapies mainly treat symptoms.
