When you do the things I recommend below you may:
Artificial lights can be toxic due to at least 3 reasons:
The narrow range of light is dominated by the blue spectrum, in contrast to the full range of the sun, the most healthy, that includes the most healing and invisible in the infrared and UV range.
SCREEN TINTS
Blue blocking screen tints and dimmers make a world of difference and then you can never go back to the assault of the bright screens.
Download for free f.lux or Iris. Leave on maximum darkness at all times. There is even flicker control on Iris I think for the paid versions.
Bright night time light drives up insulin and carb craving. Once when my screen protection was off for a while I started craving starches and gained a lot of weight before I even noticed.
GLASSES
Orange blue blocking glasses protect from artificial lights. That plus the screen tints are very effective.
I wear orange glasses in all stores where the lights are especially bad. Take your glasses on and off in the store and you can feel the difference. We are over-stimulated and frazzled by lights and don’t even notice. I am now world famous where ever I go as “that guy” with the glasses. I never see other biohackers doing this.
I wear mine driving as car and street lights are becoming more irritating, specially the new LED street lights. It’s much more relaxing, it’s amazing.
I don’t think there is a big difference in brands. Wrap arounds let less light in but get fogged more easily, especially if wearing a breathing mask at the same time.
HATS
I also wear a cap with brim that shade my eyes from the strongest direct indoor light. Light even effects the skins, not just the eyes, and the top of the head is not fully protected even by hair. Organic cotton baseball or military caps were available on Amazon for like 8 dollars.
Hats are also the only acceptable solution to strong sun if it bothers you, since you should never cover your eyes directly with glasses or contact lenses if you can manage without. Beneficial ranges of sunlight do not make it through glass very well
LIGHTS & ELECTRONICS
The healthiest light bulbs are still incandescent.
LED are the worst: but efficient because they have taken out the invisible range that is the most healthy. The new LED computer screens are horrible. Buy an old LCD or get one of the new specialized health models.
Compact fluorescents bulbs have mercury so if they break you have an extreme exposure, there’s no “only a little bit” with mercury.
Fluorescent tube lights have been known to unhealthy since their effect on children’s school performance was studied years ago.
You can even use red or orange light bulbs indoors, especially at night. It is more relaxing and helps you wind down.
